Dunkin’ Donuts better watch out because there’s a new kid in town. His name is Aroma Joe’s, a small and unique coffee shop in downtown South Berwick. Aroma Joe’s moved in a little over a year ago and is located right next to the town hall and across from Central School. What makes Aroma Joe’s unique is not the different coffee flavors but their Red Bull infused drinks. That’s what draws teenagers in.
An Aroma Joe’s employee said “almost every single kid or teenager that comes in here buys a Red Bull drink. They are very popular among their generation.” Although the Red Bull drinks are popular, Aroma Joe’s also sells regular coffee shop drinks such as coffee, iced coffee, lattes, flavored tea, and hot chocolate for the kids.
The sizes of drinks vary from 12 ounces to 32 ounces on certain beverages, with a price ranging from 1.75 dollars to around 6.00 dollars. Even though the Red Bulls can be a little pricey, students continue to buy them before school, which makes one wonder, what is so great about this place?
A student at Marshwood, and a frequenter of Aroma Joe’s, Mikalah Little said “ I usually go there two or three days a week, and I buy a different Red Bull drink because I like to mix it up.” Some of the more popular flavors include blue raspberry, kiwi, raspberry, and pomegranate. These are just a few of over twenty flavors. They also have sugar free drinks.
There is still a question that lingers though. What do Marshwood students prefer: Dunkin’ Donuts or Aroma Joe’s? There was a common opinion among the students at Marshwood. Most students said “Aroma Joe’s is definitely the place to go if you want to get something to drink, but if you want to get a good breakfast then you should go to Dunkin’ Donuts.”
