By: Brandon Lebel and Mike Woodman

Batman: Arkham City is the sequel to Arkham Asylum, one of the top games of 2009. Will the new Batman release be as good or better than the first?

People playing this game have a lot to look forward. A montage of villains were thrown into this game to keep the gamer interested. Various Supervillains and Superheroes in the game include: Joker, Bane, Mr. Freeze, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman.

At the beginning of the game you start off as Bruce Wayne, otherwise known as Batman. Right at the start you are attacked by a group of men sent by Hugo Strange, the creator of Arkham City. Your first task is to escape from Arkham City and retrieve your Batman suit. After putting on the Batsuit you have to go save Catwoman from being executed by Two-Face. Once rescued there is an assassination attempt on her life, so you must discover who her assassin is.

This is the point when you start learning about all of the gadgets that Batman has.The evidence scanner is the first gadget you use. You must scan around and find evidence of who tried to kill Catwoman. As you might have guessed, it was the Joker. Now you must track him down and try to figure out what is going on. After tracking down the Joker you discover that he has a very serious illness and will die without a cure. Of course the Joker cannot attain it himself, so he gets Batman to do it for him. If you’re wondering how he does it, you’ll just have to play the game for yourself.

Aside from the evidence scanner, there are many other interesting gadgets. Including the Batarang and all its variations, Ice blast, REC and more. Each gadget is and can be used to solve the many puzzles throughout the game.

In addition to the remarkable storyline of Arkham City, side missions are a huge part of the game play. In almost all places in the game you can acquire side missions to further level up Batman and get achievements. Along with the story of the game comes addicting combat play. “The combat and side missions are what keep me playing this game,” said Alvaro Villagro, a player of Arkham City.

Throughout all the major gaming reviews Batman does not disappoint. International Gaming Network, or IGN, gave the game a 9.5 out of 10, and GameSpot gave it a 9 out of 10. “I’d give the game a solid 9.5,” said Alvaro. Overall this game has seemed to catch gamers’attention. Whether it’s the combative techniques of the game or the must-play story and side missions, this game is no doubt one of the top games released so far this year.
